Webinar use-case Electronic Bill-of-Lading (EBL)

August 17, 2020

On the 8th of September (4pm - 6pm CEST/UTC+2), 2Tokens, together with Blocklab and the InterWork Alliance, will host a webinar on the use-case Electronic Bill-of-Lading (EBL). Read more about EBL and this webinar below.

e-BL

We see the digitization of the Bill of Lading as an important step towards making ports around the world, safer, faster, more efficient and sustainable. We are therefore actively reaching out to carriers, shippers, banks and logistics service providers in the Netherlands and beyond, to work with them on setting an open standard for transfer of title.

Tokenomics

The e-BL project envisions the creation of a secure environment in which the first legally binding, interoperable, paperless transfer of ownership of an EBL can be conducted on live shipments. TradeTrust allows for the creation of assets wrapped in a token, which can therefore be owned by an entity.

In the Webinar we will explain the underlying motivations and technology stack choices of the Electronic Bill of Lading (EBL) project (i.e. TradeTrust). After outlining the significant inefficiencies present in the use of the Bill of Lading as a maritime and trade document, we will present the business case for digitization and tokenization of this document. Finally, we present a high-level overview of the TradeTrust framework.

Ambition

Our ultimate goal is to be able to use the e-BL in 3 years' time as an equivalent alternative to the paper bill of lading at three major ports, including the Port of Rotterdam. To achieve this, we will scale up our current e-BL project to a consortium. We would like to invite you to one of the two sessions on 8 September in which we explain our plans and discuss the follow-up process with you.

InterWork Alliance Global Trade & Supply Chain Business Working Group

2Tokens clarifies the road towards tokenization. As a public project we strive for the adoption of token-powered services in day-to-day operations in different industries and networks. As an associate member of the Interwork Alliance, we would like to announce the formation of the Global Trade & Supply Chain Business Working Group whose mission is the advancement of tokenization in the space of global trade and supply chain through the creation of standards for tokenization, contracts, and analytics. We are actively involved in this working group to map all tokens required by the TradeTrust project into the IWAs Token Taxonomy Framework.
